Cruising, as law enforcement agencies call it, means drivers moving slowly, often to show off flashy rims or sound systems, with people standing and dancing on top of cars. About 20 extra officers hit the streets Sunday for the second week to tackle the problem that in the past led to shootings, accidents and traffic congestions.

Holidays, summer and area spring break weekends have seen as many as 1,000 people gathered in one-block areas, police say.

"Operation Hangout" resulted in one felony arrest, three misdemeanor arrests, 10 loud music tickets, 42 traffic tickets with 61 violations, two vehicles impounded, five warrants executed, eight misdemeanor summons and one juvenile summons, according to police.
