If the people of my district wish to make it available then it's their choice. I take an oath to carry out their wishes and my personal opinion is not part of the equation.

Hi, Teri-
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you; I've been ridiculously busy with some other articles.
Regarding my question about legalizing drugs, what I mean to ask you is what your stance would be regarding an effort to legalize marijuana for any citizen's personal use; I'm not asking about medical marijuana, but recreational marijuana.
Thanks,

I don't have a strong personal opinion either way on medical marijuana. If the people of my district wish to make it available to people who have a medical need, then I will support it because it is what they want and I take an oath to carry out their wishes and my personal opinion is not part of the equation.
Something far worse is the marketing of unapproved and unregulated drugs being sold all over the country to a totally unsuspecting public. I think that it's a travesty that drug companies are putting medicines on the market and bypassing FDA regulations and testing by calling these medicines "nutritional supplements". They are using the public as their end-stage testing guinea pigs and the people assume they are safe because they are being sold! There are two things to keep in mind here. First, most of the drugs that are on the market today are originally plant-based--they are now made synthetically but originated with plants. Second: (and more important) Over the counter medicine is REAL MEDICINE. People think that it's benign and harmless because it's available without a prescription and this is not true. If you'd like to call me, my numbers are all here and I answer my own phone most of the time.

Subject: Quick Interview Questions
Hello, Ms. Newman-
I'm a writer for Vanity Fair, True/Slant, The New York Observer, and some other publications, and I'm working on an article about House candidates who are new on the scene this year. I've just looked over your campaign website but had a couple of questions for you, if you have time. I'll send most of those along later when I'm further along, but in the meantime wanted to ask you what your stance on drug legalization is, as well as what your thoughts are on those states that seeking to implement those sorts of changes in their drug laws and how you feel about the issue in terms of Illinois in particular. Please let me know if you have a moment.
Thanks,
