Great. Would you be interested in a piece on the significance of Wikileaks, perhaps including an analysis of the leaked Army intel SECRET-NOFORN document on that organization and what it says about the intel community's stance regarding information freedom? There are a lot of angles to this thing and I know it better than anyone else who's written on today's video release as I've been reporting on Wikileaks and associated institutions for a while and have connections to a lot of free information activists; I broke the story of Wikileaks' run-in with U.S. intel between Iceland and Norway two weeks back and had the story well before the BBC or any other outlet than eventually covered it, and did the same this morning with the press conference and video release (except for al-Jazeera, which had a little thing up earlier than I did), plus had more background than anyone else even after others got on it. Also, did a radio interview on the subject last week and have another one with an NBC affiliate in Texas tomorrow. Let me know if anything on this subject would interest you for a piece.
Also, Project PM, which I discussed briefly at the end of the Charles Johnson article, is set to launch this summer, and the formal announcement/manifesto will be ready to go up soon. Let me know if you'd be interested in running it at Vanity Fair. To start off the blogger network component, which will begin expanding by way of invitation upon launch, I've recruited former Newsweek Baghdad correspondent Michael Hastings (who quit after covering the 2008 elections and finding himself disgusted with U.S. political coverage, now writes for GQ and True/Slant), True/Slant and Huffington Post contributor Allison Kilkenny, ol' Charles Johnson of course, the guys at the blog Instaputz, and am still in discussions with Middle East expert Professor Juan Cole, who came to prominence as a blogger and now does the TV rounds and whatnot. I've also brought on a couple dozen volunteers including programmers, a person who works for TED in a high capacity, another one who advises governments on information security and risk assessment, the New York activist/photojournalist John Penley (who's now recruiting all of his wacky activist and rock star friends, including Patti Smith, whom I'm waiting to hear back from), and some random academics and other such folks. True/Slant has offered to provide promotional and other forms of assistance and may be incorporating either the software or the network schematic into its existing system.
Let me know if any of this might interest you.
