Yeah, Fox News is pretty ridiculous. Media reformers, particularly bloggers, have done a good job of making that known to the public at large (except for intellectually dishonest people who don't care to know). People like Friedman still retain a lot of influence that they don't deserve, and one of the goals of this project is to change that.

Thanks again for your involvement. If you read those materials and happen to come across other essays on those same subjects of media theory and the varying natures of mediums such as writing versus orality, do please send them along or let me know where to find them, as I'd like to read up more on all of that.

Hello, Barrett,

Thanks very much for your reply and the attachments.  I will read them as well as the work mentioned by Mr. McCluhan.  One of the more memorable phrases that evolved out of the blogosphere during the height of the Iraq war was "the Friedman Unit", referring to the ever changing end goals Mr. Friedman used when discussing the war.  This phrase was originated by the blogger "Atrios".
Another fascinating area to me is how much the Fox News Network manipulates interviews and information to fit their own perceived agenda.  For instance, some critics of journalism said that Fox spent about 80% of their air time covering the hunt for weapons of mass destruction, far more than other networks.  It was clear they were searching for justification for the war.
Yes, I would appreciate the tag name of Prairiefire.
Thanks again!  have a good weekend and good luck with your endeavors!
