Hi, Allison-

Thought this might interest you as fodder for your blog or Citizen Radio; Pathfinder launching an awareness-building initiative regarding birth control access in the Third World. Details below.

Also, finally had meeting with Coates Bateman at T/S yesterday; he's very interested in working with us on the media project. I'm supposed to bring him the core software in a couple of weeks, after which point we'll make some firmer decisions on how to proceed. In the meantime, I'll finally put up the announcement article now that I've got confirmation on a few things. Will keep you updated.

Thanks,

Hey Barrett,

Hope you’re doing well. It’s been what—since high school I think—since we’ve touched base, but I have been actively following your writing for VF, HuffPost, etc and have a quick question/request. Since you’re a writing/journalist guru, I’d love any tips, ideas or suggestions you have about sharing a new initiative Pathfinder just launched yesterday: 200 Thousand for 200 Million. The goal is to achieve 200,000 shares of the videos on the www.Girl2Woman.org site by International Women’s Day to raise critical awareness about the more than 200 million women around the world who lack access to modern contraceptives. As 2010 International Women’s Day approaches with the theme, "Equal Rights, Equal Opportunity," we believe a crucial aspect of improving women’s lives is missing in the current development dialogue: reproductive health. So we’re trying to raise as much awareness as possible.

We’re pushing it out and sharing with a range of new media sources…feminist bloggers, reproductive health activists/advocates, etc but we’d love to get some traditional media coverage as well. Do you know anyone who might be interested in this subject matter? Or who might be interested in learning about the challenge? If you have any ideas, I’m all ears J

More information about the challenge is available here: http://www.pathfind.org/site/PageServer?pagename=News_International_Womens_Day_2010_Challenge.

Many, many thanks in advance for your help. On a personal note, would love to hear more about your writing and life in NY. Maybe we can grab coffee some time when I’m down in the area?

All the best,

Jaime-Alexis
