If the other magazines don't get back to you, something in Huffington
Post would be great.

This film is going to get a lot of press when it makes the fest.
circuit this summer and is released this fall, but I am trying to get
it another really good review in a good publication because the buyers
are bidding on it right now, and another good review could really
help.

If you have a big pub. like R. Stone interested, I think I could get
anyone in the film to do the interview with me.

Hi-
Yep, I got it. I've sent a query to the online editor of Rolling Stone but
haven't heard back from her on anything lately, might have been replaced;
I'll contact the print folks next, plus another mag or two. Yes, I'd love to
do an interview with Weller, and that would go a long way towards getting
the article run somewhere. I've actually seen Naked Lunch about a dozen
times (I'm a former junkie myself, so enjoyed it quite a bit), and was very
fond of his performance.

Hey Barrett,

Did you get the screener?

If you want an interview with Peter Weller or anyone else in the film
I can try to arrange it.

Hey man i randomly contacted this guy i know through another guy i

doing
some
writeups somewhere or other; he's written for the Onion, Rolling
Stone,
Vanity Fair and a few other spots, so hopefully he can put this in a
few
good prominent places.  see his thing below & i guess just contact
him
directly with press kit stuff if you're interested.

also let me know about the newspaper thing, if you guys are stuck for
a
solution i might be able to dig around some more.  um, maybe
contacting
the
newspapers directly?  like maybe they'd have this archive stuff on
file?
 i
dunno.  if nothing else i could go take higher-quality pics of the
william
tell thing; after next monday i'm out of class for a month so i'd
have
some
time to do it in a less half-assed way than the last time.

Hi, Joel-

I'd absolutely be interested in covering it for a couple of outlets,
actually. I'm totally swamped right now but if you want to have them
e-mail
me in a couple of days with press kits or whatever info they have on
hand,
I'll get an interview planned for sometime in the very near future.

Thanks,

Hey Barrett -

How's it going, this is Joel, I used to write regularly for
BushwickBK
before grad school hijacked my life this past semester.  I was
writing
to
you because I know you're a good writer and you seem to be into the
Beat
stuff from what I remember reading and I know you write for other
blogs
and
publications on the side, and I thought you might be interested in
writing
about a project one of my friends is in the process of finishing.

My friend Yony Leyser (perhaps you know him?  he used to live at
Dead
Herring in Williamsburg before he moved back to Chicago a couple
years
ago)
just finished a feature-length film that - from what I've seen of
it -
is
going to be really badass.  It just got accepted to premier the
opening
night at Slamdance; you can watch the trailer here -
www.burroughsthefilm.com.  You'll see in the trailer, but he really
did
his
legwork getting interviews - David Cronenberg, Amiri Baraka, John
Waters,
Iggy Pop, etc.

Nothing Bushwick-related here, but I thought since you wrote for a
few
other publications you might be interested in having a good article
thrown
at you and getting ahead of the curve - I really think there's a
good
shot
it'll get picked up at the festival and this could be a good head
start
on
it getting modestly famous over the next few months as it goes on to
other
festivals.

There's a good interview of how Yony put it together here, for some
background -

http://www.urchicago.com/blog/interview-yony-leyser-director-documentary-a-man-within.
And if you were interested in doing something I could put you in
touch
with
him; there's definitely enough to write about on just what all he
went
through to get this basically unfunded project off the ground on his
own.

And anyway if you ended up writing something about him you might
mention
that he's trying to raise funds to get everything together for the
festival
- he just launched a website last night which you can find here -

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/williamburroughs/william-s-burroughs-a-man-within-0

And anyway that's the gist of it.  No worries if you aren't
interested
or
don't think you'd have an appropriate outlet for it, just thought
I'd
pass
it along.  Been enjoying your posts on BBK man, hope all's well in
the
wonderful (broke) world of freelancing.

Cheers,

Joel
