Dear Barrett,

I just finished reading your fascinating article on Charles Johnson. I
was intrigued by the description of your project and would like to
find out more information about it.

These are the reasons I am interested:

1. the recent controversy surrounding Little Green Footballs

2. the contrast drawn between this project and Pajamas Media, which I
had considered applying to until it became apparent that they were
basically shilling for the Republicans

3. the conceptual similarities between this and the Project for
Excellence in Journalism, which I was briefly associated with as a
student member of the Committee of Concerned Journalists

4. the prospect of increasing "both the reach and efficiency of the
blogosphere" as well as bringing "pressure to bear on the media at
large"

5. the plan for this project to involve a "loose network of bloggers"
that might all coordinate on "exposing the failures of certain news
outlets"

6. the prospect of using a new system that "will provide for a
measurable advance in the manner by which bloggers may distribute,
obtain, evaluate, and build upon segments of information"

I have been blogging for over four years and I have some familiarity
with HTML, XML, and scripting languages. I've worked in book
publishing for the last eleven years. In my offline paid work I expect
to be learning more about database architecture and content management
systems, so perhaps I will have more to bring to the table in future.

As a matter of full disclosure, you would probably not characterize me
as a blogger you would personally prefer to associate yourself with,
given some of the positions I have defended. However, I do consider
myself to be politically independent and not completely deranged.

Thanks for your consideration,

Dave
