Well, thanks for listening and for handling it well. I know it's not fun to learn that your son has a drinking problem, but I'm serious about the reassurances I gave you about this being largely a problem of environment and circumstances. I wasn't drinking nearly so much in the first year or so I was here, when things were going well. Not having enough work, dealing with this damned household, and everything else really did contribute. I'm going to talk to some people and at least attend one AA meeting no matter what, but am going to wait and see how I'm doing a few weeks from now before, for instance, going to a shrink or committing to something like a 12-step program. And I'm going to be honest with you about all of this from now on and keep you informed about how I'm doing so that you won't have to fill in the blanks on your own and otherwise worry about me.

Thanks again for everything, and I love you. I meant what I wrote in the acknowledgement page.
