5:58 PM Andrew: ... the right choice LOL
5:59 PM me: also

6:01 PM Andrew: where are you?
6:04 PM me: home
sorry, Christopher just blew a fuse
Andrew: NY?
what are you doing tonight?
me: he seems to have problems working appliances
finishing book up or having Catalina over
6:06 PM Andrew: yuo should go out for a few beers
specifically
6:07 PM you should come have a few beers in my new neighborhood
6:08 PM me: I'd rather have sex with a pretty girl and ensure my book is as good as possible, but thanks
6:09 PM Andrew: both of those things can be better accomplished here
though the second has the additional stipulation that you bring a draft fo your book so I can read it
6:10 PM me: You want me to fuck Catalina at a bar on Lorimer?
I think my room might be more feasible
6:11 PM Andrew: convenient misinterpretation
me: I see
6:12 PM Andrew: whens the book due again?
me: Jan 2nd
Andrew: after that
you going to write sci fi?
6:13 PM me: at some point. Was also thinking it might be interesting to do experimental short story using Google Docs and several people using some sort of rules/format whereby it is written in collaboration
Andrew: you should use wave isntead
me: still trying to finalize a methodology for that
yeah, perhaps
6:14 PM either way, gotta figure out what sort of methodology to use in order to make it work best
just thought of it yesterday
Andrew: sounds interesting
6:15 PM I'd be willing to help try it with the sci fi stuff over wave - start with no methodology, and then you can work out what works and what doesnt over time
I dont write, but I can edit and criticize
me: yeah, that might be the best way to go about it, starting with no methodology
6:16 PM better to figure it out as we go along so that we're actually implementing useful rules/procedures
Andrew: indeed
me: another thing that might be interesting
some sort of plot-churning app
6:17 PM whereby a sort of randomness is used to determine certain aspects of the story just as in real life (I know real life is not random, referring to perception being incomplete)
6:18 PM or some such thing
Andrew: how about
me: i'd really like to see some sort of app along those lines
Andrew: a script with a natural language processing library
that looks for "assertions" and "identity" in a block of text
6:19 PM and randomly rearranges them
to sort of add entropy to your notes
me: that would be useful to play around with
yeah
see, all of these things would be great
and I'd be willing to commit any amount of time to writing a story using any new app along those lines
6:20 PM Andrew: I could probably write that in a few hours
me: additionally
didn't we have some sort of big project for which we were going to try to get funding?
6:21 PM you know, that awesome idea regarding a research/notation tool?
actually, I'd be more interested in the story apps, come to think of it
I'm sick of doing research
Andrew: yeah, lets save that oe
I need a break from coding large projects
6:22 PM i can write small stuff
me: and I need a break from researching
Andrew: perfect
lets write sci fi
me: so sci-fi written with actual sci-fi esque technology it is
Andrew: deal
me: very well
Andrew: I was thinking
since you mentioned the possibility of having lots fo seperate plotlines
6:23 PM it would be interesting to make a "random social/plotline" generating script
that basically made random characters and attribtues
me: absolutely
Andrew: and then created a timeline of randomly associated events of those characters
or arbitrary size
me: we should have a couple of basic apps involving randomization/combinations and then from there we can perhaps combine them in different ways
6:24 PM then set up a master app whereby one could set which features to implement and when, etc.
after such time as we understand what they can do, tend to do, etc.
I'm going to conceive a bunch of raw material
6:25 PM and try to think about how to proceed
should we use Google Wave to collaborate?
Andrew: I'd liek to try it
we can always switch to google docs if its obnoxios
me: right
6:28 PM Andrew: Ill call you jab 3rd
me: word
