Yes, it's Deflon.

I can't think of what I may have done to you to have prompted you to leave me a series of bizarre messages on my phone and attack me in a public forum, but it must have been very terrible, so I guess I should apologize for whatever it is.

You are confused about my financial situation. My family does not have millions in oil wealth or even hundreds of thousands nor tens of thousands. Neither of my parents has any more than a couple of thousand dollars in their bank accounts, and my dad has not been wealthy since the '80s. He works for a firm that is trying to get some wells drilled, and if he is successful, he will have some serious money coming to him by way of a percentage in addition to his typical middle-manager salary, and I would inherit a portion of whatever this turns out to be, assuming it happens at all. He has been working on this project for seven years with no real success so far, though, and spent much of the '90s doing such things as selling window replacements in East Texas. My mom had to re-marry so that she will be taken care of. She raised me without any financial assistance from my dad, and the two of us shared a room and a bed when I was in third grade because we had to live with my grandmother for a while. I have never had a trust fund. My uncle is dying of terminal lung cancer and will be leaving me his residuals on wells he helped put in place in his capacity as a geologist; these range from $500 to $1000 a month, which is to say that I won't have to do any more copy writing or little Onion feature articles just to pay my rent and can concentrate more on projects that are important to me, like the political action committee.

I began my career writing about politics in 2004, during which time I was working 10-hour days as a furniture mover because I'd lost my job as a copywriter for AOL that I'd had since the age of 19. I wrote in the evenings and on weekends, and eventually got hired on as a contributor to an online news outlet, which served as my main source of income for a while. I landed a book deal about a year later. Nothing I have achieved is the result of my non-existent wealth, so I would prefer it if you'd stop telling people otherwise.
