me: yes, another girl who e-mailed me about the apartment
I'm going to send her out on assignments
Catalina: ok
me: and perhaps place her on Andrew Cray's couch
it's bizarre

Catalina: so why are people emailing you about the apartment who are not really interested in the apartment?
me: well, this one initially was, but I told her that it's no longer available
Catalina: is andrew cray the british guy?
me: yes
Catalina: so many andrews
1:59 PM me: Straub and Scott are being sent out on assignments tonight
and forever afterwards
Catalina: what sort of assignments?
me: for Scallywag and Vagabond
which I'm now partly running
Catalina: yeah but what do they do?
2:00 PM me: go to high-end celebrity-drawing events in Manhattan, write about them the next day
I was going to go to some Absolut-sponsored model party tonight but trying to finish this chapter so sent Straub instead
things are now completely off the wall
2:01 PM Catalina: when is it due?
me: I can't even properly summarize what's happened here
no particular time, but it's late
Catalina: i see...
me: there's no contract, but I had told them I'd have it in by October
2:02 PM Catalina: was wondering what you're doing saturday but if youre busy ill stop by another time
me: at any rate, they'll get it when they get it, and if they object I can just sell it to another publisher

2:04 PM this model is sending me play-by-play e-mails regarding this terrible fellow from whom she's renting a room

me: how long can you stay this weekend? Will you spend the night on Satuday?

i dont know, i'll come by during the day
me: okay
stay as long as possible
so much stimuli here
2:06 PM about to turn one corner of the den into North American bureau of the Dubai outlet
Christopher is berating some publicist on the phone
again
God knows what Scott is doing
2:07 PM Catalina: crazy, at least its entertaining
me: it's indescribable and only going to get more bizarre
and productive
Melvin comes by every day as well
Catalina: i like going to your place. during the week my life is so boring, its like im dead

me: I could tell
2:09 PM still berating the publicist
I wish you'd seen him berate this other writer yesterday morning
Catalina: record it
me: I'm getting flip camera in two weeks, thank God
will start recording everything
too much has been lost to the universe already

2:10 PM me: yeah, briefly and perfunctorily
I don't want her back because she's just going to get hurt
also, I'm not really attracted to her
2:11 PM which is kind of a problem, really
insomuch as that she's clearly incapable of being "friends"
at least with me
on to new crises now anyway
Catalina: is that what she claimed she wanted?
me: yes, a week before the you-and-I incident
we broke up
2:12 PM and then she kept coming over and ended up in my bed each time

I'd hate to work for this guy in the capacity of a publicist
