Hey, got sort of an emergency and I need to take $20 out of the ATM; please just add it to my tab. I've told the porno fellow that he's going to need to find a new place to live since his job hasn't come through, and just put up another ad for another female roommate who will be paying me an additional $600 deposit. Need to buy cleaning supplies and lightbulbs and a couple of other things so the place will look good for prospective roommates. Got everything covered up here now; enjoy your vacation, will talk to you later.

I love your book reviews, especially from Skeptic. Why don't you offer to review Friedman's new book? Wasn't it supposed to come out this fall? You could pitch to those new names I sent you for Daily Beast, Harpers, etc. and also the names on that original list I sent you earlier this year.
Also, I would look at Allison Kilkenny's riffs on the news that she's getting so many hits with at True/Slant. (You are MUCH funnier and better writer than she is.) I would get up and read the NY Times or cnn every morning, then quickly send a funny query on current event for a 500-word piece of your own to VF and then to the others.
Am in New Orleans right now with Grandma, Kris and Kay on a girls trip. Will get back on Saturday, send you more ideas then.
Don't forget to ask Dad to make your deposit ASAP, tell him you're out of money NOW. I think he gets his check on last work day of the month, which would be Friday (tomorrow).

I'm going to go ahead and send the query to the assistant editor at Texas Tribune and to Texas Monthly as well. In the meantime, when you have a moment could you find me info for anything else that might be a good, paying outlet for me? Not even necessarily politics, but anything.

Have you done anything more regarding the Harper's/women feature? If not, perhaps I can pitch it for us since I've got some good credentials now?
