The final speaker for the conference, which ended today, finished by shouting at me, in front of the entire audience, "F*** you!" and calling me an "a**h*le" repeatedly. He was the only other American.
The conference is called "Counterterrorism and Open Source Intelligence," but it's supposed to be about math and computer science and counterterrorism.
The book I co-edited was launched on Monday, and the mayor of Odense, Denmark was there along with the ambassador from Pakistan and I think the Danish Minister for Foreign Affairs

But the final speaker at the conference mentioned in his talk the American Civil War, which had nothing to do with the topic.
The speaker said Lincoln was wrong to fight this illegal war and for suspending habeas corpus, that the South had the right to secede, etc.
So I objected to that as politely as I could (particularly the habeas corpus bit, since it's a bit odd for defenders of the South to get upset over detaining people without a trial). And the guy went off on me, shouting, "That's why you don't have a job." This was in the middle of his talk. He may have sworn at me then as well.
So at the end of his talk I asked him about a comment he had made earlier (in the car ride from the hotel to the conference venue---I don't repeat what people say in general, but he asked for it, and there were 5 people in the car including him) about how he said there was something wrong with Arabs that makes them treat their women a certain way (he said it this generally) and that terrorists should be chopped up and fed to pigs (the latter was a suggestion made by someone in the US military he claimed, but the conference speaker said this approvingly). He also said that the Danes should let people from Middle Eastern countries know there were more pigs in Denmark than people, to keep them out of Denmark.
At the end of his talk, after I brought up his statements, he fired off his chain of expletives.
If you look at his bio, you may be slightly concerned.
