Hi, Richard-

Sorry to bother you again, but was hoping to follow up with you in case you didn't see my last e-mail. I wanted to ask you about the beginning of our conversation when you appear to think I'm referring to a reporter who had received death threats, rather than Farley. Do you know of a reporter who received death threats during this whole incident? Please let me know when you have a moment.

Thanks,

Thanks again for your time. I just realized that at the very beginning of the conversation, you may have misheard me and thought that I was referring to a reporter instead of a professor when I asked you about an incident in which the person wrote a column and received death threats. Was there a reporter involved who received death threats as well or at least claimed to, to your knowledge? And if you can recall anyone else receiving death threats regarding the whole Jonathan Farley column incident, please let me know if you get a moment.

Thanks,

Actually, I need to verify a statement that you personally made regarding the incident and do my due diligence by asking if you have any comment on it. Obviously, I understand if you're too busy; let me know otherwise.

I think you should talk to our Vice Chancellor for Public Affairs, Beth Fortune.  Her number is 615-343-1790.  Best of luck with the article.

Provost McCarty-

I'm a NYC-based journalist and author who's writing an article for Vanity Fair regarding the journalistic practices of The Washington Times, and I wanted to ask you two quick questions about an incident that occurred at Vanderbilt a number of years back and which The Times seems to have gotten somewhat wrong. Please give me a ring at 512-560-2302 at your convenience if you'd be willing to chat for a moment; it shouldn't take any more than two minutes. If you could get back to me today, I'd be extraordinarily grateful.

Incidentally, I have a cousin at Vanderbilt; he seems to be enjoying himself, though hopefully not too much.

Thanks,
