Dear Annmarie,
I was wondering what the status of this is.  If you are short of time, I propose the following:

Send an open letter to the Hustler and the Tennessean (via Michael Cass)
mcass@tennessean.com
which says the following:

"Dear Chancellor Gee:
In 2002-2003, then-president of the Vanderbilt University Black Student Alliance Nia Toomer demanded in the Vanderbilt student newspaper, The Hustler, that you retract the racist statements you or your spokesman, Vice Chancellor Michael Schoenfeld, expressed regarding the slave-holding Confederacy. We note that to the best of our knowledge, despite your alleged former desire to change the name of Confederate Memorial Hall, you have never explicitly criticized the Confederacy.  We give you the opportunity now to publicly state that the Confederacy was a great evil and Confederate leaders like KKK-founder Nathan Bedford Forrest committed crimes against humanity.  If you do not state this by March 31, 2007, we will regard your refusal as support for the Confederacy, specifically for KKK-founder Nathan Bedford Forrest.

Sincerely,
The Black Student Alliance"

This requires very little effort on your part.

Regards,

Jonathan Farley
