I'm not sure if there's any way to convince you that I don't have a drug/alcohol problem, but I want you to at least know that I am working very hard on getting myself financially stable. Right now, I'm writing what will probably be the most important story I've done yet, and Hogan at VF is interested, as seen below. I'll send it to you when it's complete, most likely tomorrow. I know it may seem to you that I don't have a plan regarding my career and my finances, but I really do, and I think that I have advanced my position to a great extent over the past couple of months. Little Green Footballs, the most prominent conservative blog in the nation, is now in my corner as of this afternoon, which is to say I'm on the cusp of becoming a well-known pundit. I know that such things don't pay the bills, at least not directly, which is why I'm taking this restaurant job until such time as I can secure a more consistent writing workload.

He's forwarded me a series of death threats he received in 2002; many of these were the direct result of McCain's insanely one-sided Times article on a controversy surrounding a column Farley had written that year in which he referred to Confederates as traitors; Farley himself had to move out of Tennessee and is now teaching in Austria. Incidentally, McCain is himself a member of the neo-secessionist group League of the South and has ties to a number of self-proclaimed neo-Nazi organizations and individuals; nonetheless, he has managed to remain a mainstream figure, having co-authored a book two years back with Lynn Vincent, who herself ghosted Palin's Going Rogue and who also has questionable ties.
