OK! You are right, I am wrong (on this one).
But I just needed to see that you're really taking time to consider the financial side of this seriously, as well, and weighing the dollar consequences each and every time you write/pitch.

I'm still waiting on the Atlantic guy to get back to me about the Martin Peretz article. I'm not going to be able to place timely pieces with an editor of one of the nation's most prominent magazines with whom I haven't developed a relationship yet. Again, just to reiterate - I'm giving True Slant pieces that are too date-driven for me to get put in anything else right now, and I have a good chance of making more money by doing that. I understand that I'm often wrong but you need to realize that I'm right on this one. This is a deal that a lot of very talented writers have taken, and I'm taking it for the same reason they are. I appreciate your concern and ideas, but please really consider my position on this, because it clearly makes sense.

OK, but it's a "riff on the news" so you could have sent to Atlantic guy who asked for that?

I'd obviously like to, but Hogan can only buy a certain number of freelance pieces each month, and things like this have to be published in a timely manner whereas Hogan can take a week to get back to me.

OK.
But maybe you should have pitched today's (EXCELLENT) piece to VF first -- since they pay you more?
I'm just saying -- maybe you need to be more strategic in figuring out how much money you're trying to make each month, selling your work to the highest bidder.

One quick question about the contract - I'm required to provide at least eight posts a month in addition to a minimum of five comments and a few other things described in Exhibit A, correct?
