me: as in four tenets of faith and what have you
me: with arbitrary categories of three and four
Hilarie: fuck him hes a patriarch
Hilarie: probably bc its Lewis
me: yeah, he does just that in the most blatantly arbitrary manner that I've ever seen in something that's purported to be brilliant
Hilarie: like some thought systems work because they give rights to people and allow them to progress
Hilarie: or explain it rationally
Hilarie: i hate that people think they can prove some thought system
me: it's Purpose Driven Life for intellectuals
me: Brice no doubt has read it
Hilarie: sounds like bullshit
me: it's pretty ridiculous
Hilarie: sounds like brice
me: which is allegedly some really intellectual defense of Christian theology
me: I got a copy of Mere Christianity
Hilarie: jesus lover
Hilarie: lion witch wardrobe
Hilarie: ya
me: you know of C.S. Lewis?
Hilarie: not married i dont think
Hilarie: shes going to be a lawyer like me at a similar firm
me: I imagine she's rich and/or married
Hilarie: i havent met up with her yet tho
Hilarie: liz dryden lives in la now
me: just likes girls, as do most girls
me: nah
me: very animalistic
Hilarie: is she a lesbian?
me: fun, like a guy in the good ways
Hilarie: what is mirna like?
me: right
Hilarie: who arent really intellectuals but who i like drinking wine with
Hilarie: its with my friends
Hilarie: its fun
Hilarie: i guess
me: really? That's very adult
Hilarie: but anyways maybe i will bring it up in my next book club i am hosting
me: read Julian by Gore Vidal then
Hilarie: not read something to ridicule it
Hilarie: i want to read something good
me: Russell, rather
me: and also look up some Bertrand Russel essays
me: anyway, you should read about Mere Christianity
me: it is, if you take away the false fundamental differences between government and family
Hilarie: true
Hilarie: and i hadnt thought of it that way, but i think thats a good description
me: I'm allegedly a man and I see no need for it
Hilarie: maybe i would like it if i was a man?
me: patriarchy is simply small-scale fascism
Hilarie: motherfuckcer
Hilarie: and how into men he was
me: he is a patriarch
Hilarie: i was reading some feminist critique that mentioned him
me: this one actually got mentioned prominently when the deal was signed
Hilarie: ya
me: paperback version coming out next year
me: no, but it would have done much better if enough copies had been printed and if had been marketed
Hilarie: i think its just hard to get rich
Hilarie: i dont think the others ones did poorly'
me: i have to finish it up in the next two months
me: well, the next one will do much better
Hilarie: i wish your books made you rich
me: caleb and john being the good sort of intellectuals
me: but mostly hang around with caleb, john ruiz, josh
me: but I'm also friends with various well-to-do honkies
me: and I live in the ghetto
me: hang
me: since I hand around at home mostly
Hilarie: y
me: most of the people I interact with on an average day are puerto rican drug dealers
Hilarie: like really out there?
Hilarie: so are your friends in nyc intellectuals?
Hilarie: i know
me: we were bestest friends back in the day
Hilarie: same
Hilarie: i will if i ever see her
me: haven't talked to her in like 10 years
me: tell her I said hi
Hilarie: but havent talked beyond that
me: huh
Hilarie: i wrote her back
Hilarie: she sent me a message
Hilarie: but dunno
Hilarie: not married
Hilarie: in LA
Hilarie: at a similar firm
Hilarie: shes going to be a lawyer
Hilarie: liz
me: what were you saying?
me: sorry, my laptop overheats
Hilarie: sorry i am multitasking
me: what else is going on with you?
me: and I have much better opportunities to promote it now as I actually write for important things instead of a bunch of little silly things like last time
me: as in people have already heard of it in the publishing world
me: I'm not opposed to it
Hilarie: well i believe strongly in living in fantasy worlds
me: also it would be cool
Hilarie: i would like to do something like that
me: it would be a good lesson for them
Hilarie: that would be cute!
Hilarie: awe
me: I thought it would be neat to raise them in Greek mythology and then see how that works out for them when they get to school
me: good
Hilarie: im going to raise my children christian
me: even Christians liked the book
me: my thoughts are very straight-forward
me: nah
Hilarie: but i think your actual thoughts are over peoples heads
Hilarie: which is good
Hilarie: smart and on point but usually you dont write over peoples heads
me: yeah, I don't use ten dollar words
Hilarie: like in a john stewart way
Hilarie: but then again your writing has really good mass appeal
me: but only other writers and a segment of the skeptic community knows who I am
Hilarie: and i think a lot more people were able to appreciate it than just your usual crowd
Hilarie: but i think you were able to accomplish both
me: it's famous among a certain circle
Hilarie: and the reason i was surprised is because i thought that you would write good stuff that wouldnt appeal to the masses
Hilarie: ya i remember being surprised. i thought your last book was well received and widely known
me: very well
Hilarie: and sometimes act like an asshole
Hilarie: mainly i do word processing
