Sure, that'll work, and I'll keep it in third-person. Will probably have it to you later this week.

Hi Barrett,

That sounds amazing. Go for it. Does the same payment situation as with the last piece work for you? And do you think you'd be able to take photos (and keep the article in the third-person?)

Thanks,
Paul

Sounds good; I'll e-mail you an invoice soon. Off the top of my head, would you guys be interested in a piece on Hasidic restaurants in Williamsburg?

Sure, we'll make those changes. And re: invoices, you can e-mail it to me or mail it to the address in my signature. Also, we'd love pitches, of any sort, but we may have a few ideas as well. Will keep you in the loop, but again, we'd love to keep running your stuff. Thanks,

Paul

Sorry, I do have two things I'd like changed if possible. "Public-relations" is used in the first sentence; the term's not supposed to have a hyphen, and I've been unable to find it ever having been used that way. Could that be changed? Also, the last sentence makes reference to quitting the Communist Party but the setup's been removed, so maybe it would look better if the last sentence simply read, "They have milkshakes. USA! USA!" Let me know if you can do this.

Hi, Paul-

The edit looks fine. Let me know if I should send an invoice. Do you guys have any more ideas on the spike or do you want me to query you later on?

Hi Barrett,

Hope all is well. I've had my editor, Andy Battaglia, edit the piece, and here's his note, attached below with an edited version of the piece. Let me know what you think. As a side note, I should have mentioned the stricture against first-person.

Thanks much,
Paul

This is a really fantastic piece. Thanks much for writing it for us. It's a lot of fun to read, and very useful as a guide too. I trimmed it down to 750 words so we can run it in print as well as on the website. And made a few tweaks here and there, many in the interest of trimming and a few to get around some of the first-person. We don't generally allow first-person at all, but a few of the references that way felt really right... so they can work, as long as only where it would be contorted otherwise.

Take a look and let us know if any of the changes rankle or misrepresent. It's in TRACK CHANGES, all.

And thanks again. We're excited to publish this one. Please write more!

Andy
