This might be kind of hard to believe, but I'm in the middle of nowhere in VT (middlebury college), sworn to speak only japanese for 9 weeks. And yes, it is full of anime and manga nerds. (Probably about a quarter of the students here are like me, graduate students learning japanese for the sake of their research; a few are professionals of one kind or another learning it for work or to live in japan; the rest are college kids who just really like japan, I guess.) It's kind of interesting, actually; I had been aware that fangirls existed, but I'd never actually met one. It turns out they're more or less the quiet girls in high school who kept to their own little packs. In any event, I won't be back in NY until the middle of august, but I'll be sure to give you a call around then. Last time we talked I think you were still having a tough time finding work, it's good that you seem to have found a few decent gigs.

What are you up to these days? I'm still writing for Vanity Fair and now The Onion (just features for the print version, not the important stuff), plus I can ride my bike real fast. You should come down to our neck of the woods sometime.
