My friend Steve Daly, recently laid off by Entertainment Weekly after 21 years, says the freelance thing is extra tough now because magazines have cut their freelance budgets drastically (and are insisting that paid staffers pick up any slack). Troubling....as are many aspects of this. I'm hanging in there, man. Need more work, obviously (waiting to hear about a possible job at VH-1). Sorry our lunch never came off. Can we reschedule?
