Mr. Schwarz-
I wanted to get in touch with you to see if you might be willing to give me a book review assignment on spec, or if you might be interested in receiving some queries in general. I'm a Brooklyn-based freelance writer and author, and my work has appeared in Skeptic, National Lampoon, The Onion A.V. Club, McSweeney's, The Fortean Times (U.K.), American Atheist, and dozens of other publications, including a gaggle of lesser-known public policy and literary journals. My first book, Flock of Dodos: Behind Modern Creationism, Intelligent Design, and the Easter Bunny, was released in 2007 to praise from Alan Dershowitz of Harvard Law School, Matt Taibbi of Rolling Stone, Cenk Uyger of Air America Radio, and other sources. I also serve as director of communications for the Godless Americans PAC, on behalf of which I've appeared on media outlets like Fox News.
By way of samples, I've attached a recent book review that appeared in this month's issue of Skeptic, as well as a much longer review of William Bennett's ackwardly-titled book The De-Valuing of America. Please take a look and let me know if you might be interested in discussing some assignments or receiving queries in the near future.
