KENTUCKY

Hi Stephen,

Here is our first posting for the Thumbs Down page.   Let's get this guy out of office!

Thanks,

Ellen

Representative Tom Riner (D)

Tom Riner is a Pastor who, according to the New York Times,  (1/3/09) sponsored a 2006 law requiring that the state’s homeland security office post a plaque recognizing a god’s role in keeping the country safe.  In 2002 state and local officials spent more than $160,000 in legal fees, after they lost and ACLU lawsuit against Riner’s posting of the Ten Commandments in public buildings and they still owe $40,000 for a 2005 case in which the Supreme Court ruled that such displays should be removed.
He had “In God We Trust” written above the daises in the Senate and House chambers.  He sponsored legislation that permitted the Ten Commandments to be displayed in public buildings.
