Yo-

I'm back in town; let me know if you still want to meet up and talk about doing some projects. Also, I was on Fox News yesterday morning to talk about Rick Warren and all that; was my first national TV appearance. Went well.

Yeah, Flock of Dodos was mine, and I'm working on a second one for the same publisher. I'd be down for some collaboration on anything at all. I'll be in Dallas until the 29th, but let's get together after that; let me know what time is good for you. Feel free to give me a ring in the meantime if you want to discuss some projects.

Was FLOCK OF DODOS your book, B? I saw it in the stores. Good for you, man.

We really should sit down for a beer in the New Year or sometime before. I've been trying to get a humor book off the ground, meeting with various packagers and agents, etc.

It's a tough time to be doing that, as you know, but perhaps there's something worth collaborating on down the road...I always dug your writing.

Speaking of taking on the right, here's a little thing I did for VanityFair.com recently....

Howdy-

I just did; thanks for getting back to me. Congrats on having your own firm, even if things are slow these days, and I'd definitely be down for working for you guys when things pick up over there; how are you going about the marketing aspect of all that? Doing sales letters or anything?

I checked out the guidelines at MAD and just shot off an e-mail to Joe to introduce myself and see if there's anything in particular they're looking for content-wise; will probably go ahead and write up some pieces to submit whether I hear back from him or not.

What else are you up to these days? My first book was published last year; it got great reviews but the deal I signed was fairly shitty and it hasn't translated into much money. I'm also director of communications for a PAC, but it's a pro bono thing, so I'm trying to drum up some copywriting work and whatnot. Things sure are shitty out there, eh?

Frank-

This is Barrett Brown; I wrote a couple of pieces for Jest back when Jest still, you know, existed. I'm living in Brooklyn now and looking for any sort of work I can find that doesn't involve walking around or standing or waiting on people, and thought I remembered you mentioned something about a production company a year or two back, so I thought I'd check in and see if you know of anyone who's looking for writers or whatnot. I've attached my resume below just in case; please let me know if there's work to be had.
