Howdy-

I've been hearing quite a bit about the scene over there; had a few drinks the other night with a travel writer who was over there for a couple of years, and the images he described - factories employing upwards of 60,000 people, for instance - are somewhat frightening. Here's hoping that the Chinese liberalize somewhat before they take over the world. Good luck with everything over there.

In China right now for a business trip.

It's simply and absolutely the place where dreams are made in the 21st century. China reeks of absolute brilliance and chaos, inequality and hope, despair and prostitution, HIV/AIDS and open discussion, visibility and closet homosexuals, ignorance and disgusting toilets, corruption and ideas, yet all with a mixture of great anticipation and excitement - the true formula for the arrival of a kind of breathing systematic cosmopolitan brilliance, brilliance, brilliance. Beijing is brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. Here, there's simply too much to complain and nothing to love. I feel the gears of the next coming superpower which will just beat everything known and unknown. Changes everyday. Brilliance arrives in the air coupled with the questionable agreement that the envy of the world will become self-fulfilled.

Too bad I leave in a couple of days. I love it here. More to be said w/photos.
