Khristina-

Thanks for getting back to me.

As I probably mentioned on Friday, Enlighten the Vote is simply the latest incarnation of GAMPAC, the Godless Americans Political Action Committee; the original name, we determined, was unnecessarily antagonistic, and at any rate our aim is not to be simply an atheist organization but rather a big tent which even the moderately religious would feel comfortable supporting. And though federal law does allow us to get involve in any sort of issue we'd like, it's our policy to emphasize Establishment Clause/church and state issues over all else, which is to say that we will speak on such topics as gay rights, reproductive rights, and the absurdities of the prominent monotheistic religious doctrines only in a Constitutional and public policy context.

EV is lead by Ellen Johnson, a longtime secular activist who took over the leadership of American Atheists upon the murder of founder Madalyn Murray O'Hair in 1995. Earlier this year, she was ousted from her position by AA's board of directors at the behest of her ex-boyfriend, who serves as one of the directors and who was ostensibly concerned about Johnson's decision to complete the Freedom Walk in Alabama, which he claimed could have resulted in her assassination. Unfortunately, these top-tier activist types tend to be ridiculous douchebags; fortunately, Enlighten the Vote has no such board of directors and is controlled entirely by Johnson, so we need not worry about any more of this silliness and can thus concentrate on actually getting things done.

As for the things we seek to get done, our work is divided into two general thrusts - assisting candidates and politicians who support the restoration of the Establishment Clause in this country, and keeping the public informed on matters related to such things. The Enlighten the Vote website will launch later this month; hopefully, it'll be better than the GAMPAC site, which appears to have been designed by near-sighted North Korean slave laborers or some such:

As I mentioned, we'll also be putting out videos and press releases and whatnot, recruiting local representatives by way of such things as Daily Kos, and throwing fundraising concerts here in New York, among other things.

As for you, I'll give you the title of Director of Video Production or whatever you'd like to be called; eventually, you'll have some assistants to help you with some of the more mundane tasks that come with video production and you'll thus be able to concentrate on storyboarding or directing or whatever it is that you video people do (I know little about it, as you'll quickly learn).

Speaking of which, here's the first script. Take a look and let me know if this is doable, and let me know if you have any questions at this point.

Thanks again for getting involved.
