We had discussed you serving as editor on some of our titles: Darrah & Co., Cliff Price Gift Review and Southern Link.
If you're still up for it, we're ready to roll. We settled in at $55 per hour, with a ceiling of 25 hours per title (from start to finish).
Haley will arrange a conference call with each of the three clients. Would you like to have a conference call with me and Haley first? If so, are you available for about 30 minutes on Monday afternoon?
(Haley will drop in the mail today the back issues for each of the clients.)
As a reminder, here's the overview:
We do four small publications twice a year for manufacturers rep companies (Darrah & Co., Cliff Price, Southern Link, Southeast Marketing). These are companies that exhibit in markets, like DMC, and have multiple lines of products from a variety of manufacturers. These companies have sales reps, who sell the manufacturers lines to retailers. The publications we do are generally about hot products and selling tips, and they usually have around 10 pages of editorial each.
Would you be interested in doing the editing on one or more of these projects, with pay at an hourly rate? The project would involve working with the company to brainstorm story ideas, assigning the stories, editing them, sending them to the company for approval, arranging a cover photo shoot, retrieving artwork from article subjects, and working with the artist to get the books designed.
We generally spend about 25 hours per project to get this done, and we would pay $45 per hour. It's a relatively straightforward project. The most challenging part will be keeping this moving along on schedule, as the company contacts (the owners) are busy and, sometimes, flaky. They'll suck up way too much time if you don't keep them reined in (as you know from working with Robin).
Please let me know if you're interested in one or more of these four projects. You'd start working on them roughly in mid-September and finish sometime in November.
