hi barrett, thanks for emailing me back. i know you have a shit-load on your plate these days. you have to realize though that you are one of my best friends and i care about my friends. you and my friends and family are the most important thing in my life.
statistics prove that 78% of occasional use soon turns into dependency and 78% of chippers will turn into shooters. that's the hard fact. and the statistic of overdosing---um, especially when you are mixing up a lethal dose of that with alcohol or coke---HELLO your chances of becoming an addict that ODs are high, dude! this is serious. we have all seen this happen in real life. i will not sit back and watch while this happens to a friend of mine, because i care about you. so boo-ya.
plus, rehab is fun! it's like a bourgeois summer camp. i would totally go as a vacation and i think you would too! if you have the money you should go there like a glamorous celebrity rockstar and clear your head. you can play tennis and do yoga and shit. they have some pretty luxury places like this:
http://www.seabrookhouse.org/ would you please consider getting some professional advise, please? i know you will laugh at this email.
i know you don't think you have a problem, but i do, and i am not saying this because i want to attack you and please don't get defensive, it is actually the opposite--i really like you and i want you to be happy.
at the least please try to stop using drugs and learn to say no to more work.
also, if you stopped doing drugs you would be able handle a bigger work-load and focus better. trust me.
do you want to meet for coffee today? i will not pressure you to meet with me if you don't want to. i understand. but please, i urge you to try to go sober now so that it doesn't become a bigger problem in the future that takes over your life and eventually kills you. i'm sure you are laughing at this point. i become a better comedian than you now? :P
call me when you get this,
-anna

Anna, I'm just trying to avoid any further drama. As I mentioned, I have a lot on my plate right now, and having a long discussion with my ex-girlfriend about the manner in which I conduct my life is not particularly high on my agenda this week. If you'd like to get together sometime and talk about anything else other than my occasional use of narcotics, let me know. I'm not trying to be mean; I just need to keep my mind focused on my work at the moment.
