hope you can make it; long invitation below

To My Dearest Friends and Family,

As some of you may know, a certain group of impassioned and ambitious youths (including myself) plans to campaign in Colorado on behalf of Barack Obama for the last two weeks in October on up to election day.   If you're wondering  why Colorado, this article may answer some questions:

In addition to hitting major urban areas, we also plan to tour the wilds, breathe the Rocky Mountain air, and reacquaint our cynical, city-dweller selves with rugged all-American ideals (Yes, I have completely romanticized this mission!).  In addition to going door to door and mountain to mountain, we will also be making a movie, keeping a live journal, and acting out on any other crazy notions that strike us.

My contribution to the ongoing fundraising effort is a small dinner--I'm cooking for 20, but there could be extra--that coincides with Obama's convention speech.  It will be hosted at Julia's, which is certainly no Rainbow Room, but has its own Brooklyn charm.  The price is $30 and I'm asking you bring your own beverage.  For those of you who can't attend, donations are gladly accepted.

Here's the menu:
hummus
michoteta (feta and cucumber salad)
babaghanouj
orange and olive salad with spinach
zucchini salad with pine nuts and currants
pancar salatasi (beet and yogurt salad)
spanokopita
djaj matisha mesla (chicken with tomatoes and honey)
roz be zafran (spiced saffron rice)
fichi mandoralati (figs stuffed with almonds and cloves and wrapped in grape leaves)

If you'd like to attend, donate, invite someone, or just come to watch the speech,  let me know.  Any support is appreciated.

Also, pass this along to those who might be interested.

Hope you're all well and much love,

Loryn
