Yo, yo-

Glad you're keeping up your ridiculous traveling pace. Coincidentally, we met some cliche New Hampshire Brahmin at the bar the other night by the name of Evan Jones (never actually met a "Jones" before) who insisted that he was getting "tight" from drinking so much and regaled us with stories of political primaries and having people like Howard Dean come into his house for tea and tough questions. You should have seen the striped pants this guy was wearing.

As for birthday lists, I would like a subscription to Reason, the libertarian magazine. I don't have the new address handy yet, but I'll provide it to you later.

I'm also excited about the convention. Your generation is spoiled; my generation has never seen a floor fight. This one, I presume, will have lots of loud old ladies from the Upper West Side screaming about how they're not going to keep quiet anymore. Oh, and wait for the GOP convention. The Ron Paul people will do something. I'm not sure what, but it will be worth watching live, assuming you won't be in some third world country at the time, which you probably will.

Love,

Your Eldest and Most Red-Headed Grandson

Hey Bear --
I just got back from a week in New England with some friends, had never been in that area so it was really interesting.  One of my friends has a relative who lives in New Hampshire and owns a couple of vacation homes around there.  We stayed at his ski lodge at Franconia, next to Robert Frost's home.  We just walked down the little lane to visit his place (shrine? museum?).  Then mostly drove around the countryside, eating crab cakes, clam chowder and lobster rolls at various old hotels and other landmarks of antiquity.  Everything is so old there......Then we went to Salem, stayed in the Hawthorne Hotel, right across the street from the House of Seven Gables, and on the corner was the Witches of Salem Museum.  Creepy.  Were supposed to go sailing, but got rained out.

Was wondering if you have a birthday list yet?  Your mom tells me you are moving soon, but if you'd like a subscription or something I could just wait for your new address.  Can't wait for the Democratic Convention - conventional wisdom predicts that Bill and Hillary (maybe Chelsea?) are planning a coup to take over and secure the vice president slot.  What fun!  I love politics.

Much love,
g'mama
