Got picked as a finalist for the debate comment gig; have to outperform my competitors in terms of providing short, convincing debate points. You can see my first entry here:

Also, our firm is being considered to handle a website for a Wall Street brokerage firm; they want one of us to come in for a meeting, although they're also interviewing other production companies for the project, so may be a longshot. At any rate, the first sales letter we sent out has been a success so far, it seems!

Huh. Well, should be interesting.
Didn't tell you, but I'll be coming in that day, Saturday November 15 from another wedding in Puerto Vallarta the previous night! It's a little tight to make both of them, but just wanted to make it work. It's Lucy's daughter's wedding in Mexico and Jerry and I will be down there for that -- Wednesday through Friday. Then Sat. morning Jerry flies back to DFW but I will catch a 7:00 a.m. flight to mexico city then to JFK arriving 3:45 p.m., having to go through customs there so may miss the 6:00 p.m. wedding and just go straight to the reception, which is the fun part, anyway. I'll get a hotel room so you can just stay with me, I hope? and I plan to spend a few days in NY! We can discuss details later. Love you, MSTG.

Moreover, he was a committed Marxist before converting. And there's nothing incompatible about being an Evangelical and adopting a child of a different race; happens all the time. Children's International is an Evangelical group, for instance.

He apparently was Jewish then converted to Evangelical Christian (the father, Marvin). But the family also adopted a black child after this oldest boy was born, so I get mixed messages about them? Apparently they recently moved to NYC where he is teaching at King's College, which I gather is of the Evangelical persuasion as well.

Not particularly. Caleb had some trouble with him at school when trying to get into or out of his class or some such, but the fault was Caleb's, as usual. I'm under the impression that Olasky is a very decent and nice fellow, even if he has trouble picking his gods.

Oh my god, the dad is TERRIBLE looking. Did Caleb think he was terrible acting, too?

He must have gotten his looks from his mom. Here's his dad, if you're unfamiliar with him:

I may have mentioned that Caleb found the guy to be so hilarious in terms of moniker and sheer physical terribleness that he used the name MarvinOlasky99@aol.com as his e-mail address for four or five years, and would name all of his video game characters Marvin Olasky.

Ha! That's true.
BTW, here's a website for the NY wedding you're attending in November:

I have an open invitation to pitch stuff to Skeptic. The problem is that I am not all that skeptical and in fact believe that I can record the voices of ghosts and transdimensional entities.

Wow! Maybe you should pitch some stuff to him.

Prothero also wrote that nice review of my book for Skeptic. He's an editor there.
