Thank you for your interest in our Craigslist ad for a Political Beat Writer. I wanted to take a moment to explain a little bit more about exactly who we are and what we're looking for in this position.
About CreateDebate
Our website, CreateDebate (www.createdebate.com) was launched three months ago to harness the collective intelligence of our users to make better decisions. A very important decision that US Citizens will need to make in under 100 days is who they will vote for in the National, State Level, and Local elections. We are currently working on (and hoping to roll out very soon) a section of CreateDebate (CreateDebate2008) that is geared specifically towards the 2008 US Elections. User's will be able to go in to CreateDebate, enter in their zip code, and quickly find the candidates in their electoral district, as well as a plethora of information about the candidates (background, voting history, biographical info, etc). They will also be able to quickly create a debate about the election or issues pertinent to the election.
Beat WritersIn order to ensure there is current and accurate information in the debates, we need great writers to add arguments to the debates based on the current events in the election. That's where you come in. We are looking for part-time beat writers who will cover the most heated elections in detail, add arguments for multiple candidates, provide up to the minute campaign reports, etc. There will also be opportunities to be a guest author on our blog,
http://blog.createdebate.com. We are based in Virginia, although you can work from anywhere you want (as long as you have an internet connection).
Compensation
We are looking for several part-time beat reporters with a passion for politics who are interested in covering the upcoming elections. We will pay on a per-argument basis, with compensation opportunity of up to $1500 per month. Compensation will be based upon the quality and quantity of arguments submitted to CreateDebate. The initial expectation will be to post between 25-30 arguments per day (rough total of 300-500 words per day, 5 days per week) regarding the elections.
