Senatus Populusque Americus:

Today's Supreme Court ruling to the effect that men and teenagers who find themselves plucked out of one country on suspicion of shooting at members of an invading army only to be flown across the planet and imprisoned indefinitely  without charges get to have access to some of the same legal rights that Anglic civilization has extended to even murderers and rapists for 1000 years has really pissed off the sort of people who ought to never have been allowed to participate in Anglic civilization in the first place, which is, of course, good for Anglic civilization, and thus cancels out the disappointment I experienced recently upon learning that my Grand Theft Auto IV girlfriend Michelle is actually a federal agent. I'm sorry if I spoiled anything for you, but the truth is the truth.

Now, let's take a sampling of the butthurt buffet.

A commenter at Jihad Watch:

This is one of the most sickening decisions that I've seen in a very long time.

The legislative branch of the US government had better pass some very clear legislation on this matter in order to remove any ambiguity on the applicability of constitutional rights. But I'm frankly not very optimistic that this will occur soon.

While we wait for the Democratic-controlled Congress to get the ball rolling on a Constitutional amendment to which it is opposed and which two-thirds of the states will never, ever pass, let's read some more!

I think the president ought to ignore this screw-citizen-welfare, lawyer enriching, and liberal-idiot ruling while going all out for a constitutional amendment, which might help the republicans during elections. In the mean time the military needs to stop taking prisoners like they use to. Perhaps the military needs to treat captured enemy combatants like a smart farmer treats the discovery of an engendered species on his land: shoot, shovel and shut up.

Hmmm; this comment appears to be broken. I'll just fix it up:

Perhaps the military needs to treat captured enemy combatants like a smart farmer the Nazis treats the discovery of an engendered species on his land: treated escaped Allied POWs on at least one occasion: shoot, shovel and shut up.

Lulz, Jihad Watch. More, you say?

Well, there's only one course of action.
Return to the rules of war. Take no prisoners.
Enemy combatants not wearing a military uniform will be summarily shot as spies.

Here's a fun game - try to find three things wrong with this comment other than the fact that it was written by a douchebag.

But sniping after comments on a blog frequented by the nation's e-crusaders is like crushing a fish with a barrel full of bigger fish that are made of some heavy material like adamantium, or perhaps something real, and heavier. What say you, Jihad Watch proper?

While I disagree with this decision, I will not resort to misrepresenting it in order to score political points.

Just kidding. Here's what he actually wrote:

What is this about violating the Constitutional rights of people who are not American citizens? Apparently the U.S. Constitution applies to everyone in the world now.

Protip: Although it is doubtful that this guy owns a copy of the Constitution and may thus be forgiven for not knowing what dangerous secrets lie within, the term "person" is used many times throughout. For example, there's this one awesome part that says that a state may not "deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of its laws."

Anyway, I'm going to go play Grand Theft Auto IV now. Later, I shall have a snack.

DEA delenda est.
