About the new online magazine:

Title: 360°

Working tagline: A world of ideas for our business partners (this will probably change)

 

NOTE: The audience is made up of people in the design business, so the client wanted to make sure that the cover design is compelling and cool.

 

The layout will be similar to other ezines -- cover, welcome letter page, four-page editorial with sidebars, one-page product section, previous issues page.

Each issue will include an "On Display" (product section) section that will include three products -- one big ad with an "Act now" kind of promotion, and two smaller ads. (one page) **The cover will have a tease to the issue's special offer in the back. A starburst was used as an example, but we're open to other ideas.

 

About the client:

Radius Display Products has been in business for 31 years. Their display products are sold via exhibit dealers to end-users (corporations, organizations, etc.) The primary market this ezine will address is the trade show exhibit industry -- banners, backdrops, hanging signs, fabric, modular displays. Their clients say they like doing business with the company because they have a quality product and they're industry experts. They also like the people. The company tagline is: "Our friendly expertise is always on display."

 

The company leadership is knowledgeable and business savvy, but also very approachable with a good sense of humor. They want that to be communicated through the ezine. Descriptors of the company: accessible, causal, compassionate, dependable, engaging, established, reliable, trustworthy, warm

 

Radius' publication objectives:

Strengthen customer loyalty

communicate regularly with customers

educate customers on products and services

improve brand recognition

 

How to describe the e-zine when you call the sources:

 

360 is a monthly custom publication sent from Radius Display products to approxmiately 5,000 of their clients, who are primarily display dealer owners, sales managers and project managers. This article will be featured in its first issue, which is due to publish at the end of June.

This story assignment:

How to Play the Green Card. Tongue-in-cheek, humorous style. How dealers can play the "green card" when working with display products. Dealers are up to their eyeballs in "green" paraphernalia. Humorous take on the green overflow, from the outrageous to the mundane, what companies are attempting (and failing sometimes) to convey, real take away - why it does matter (clients want it, it will make them money), how to truly integrate it (in some way) into your business, how to effectively communicate it without becoming part of the marketing waste dump. This article should be tongue-in-cheek, offering valuable info while highlighting how ridiculous some companies are getting in promoting themselves as "green".

 

SIDEBAR: It's not easy being green... or is it? Bare minimum changes you can make in order to be able to advertise yourself as being considered green.

 

SIDEBAR: What DOESN'T make you green (list of some humorous and some real items that either everyone does anyway, aren't epic in their efforts, or may actually even hurt the environment) (like, turning off your lights at night, using recycled paper towels in the break room, etc.)
