This comic strip I mentioned to you is going to rely on old, non-copywrited paintings for backgrounds and content, like the attached, which is a combination of a painting of Thomas Paine with a painting of a drawing room from early 20th century, plus some lighting and inking effects I added in with a program. Let me know if you happen to know of any particularly nifty old paintings that might serve as good "raw material" for this.
