Q: Do you offer "astral" or any kind of long-distance initiations into your Order?
In the opinion of the Order and its Chief Adept, to be effective initiations into a Golden Dawn order are performed with the Candidate physically present. Especially since we permit non-initiates to attend Lodge before joining, it is the physical act of receiving the ritual that constitutes initiation and the reception of the magickal current. Further, the point of a Lodge and Order is to foster community. Without a physical meeting this is difficult to establish. History has shown us that 'Astral' initiations are too prone to abuse and so eschew the practice.
