I've shared a document with you called "Media":

Hi Mark and Barrett,

Katie and I compiled this list of media outlets and organizations that
we tried to make as comprehensive as possible. I wanted to share it
with you guys to use as a point of reference when we're adding media
sources for blog entries. This list should hopefully show you which
parent group you should set above the group you're creating.

For instance, if you needed to add the Sacramento Bee to our list of
sources, you could search for the paper in this document and see that
it should be grouped under McClatchy. Subsequently, McClatchy falls
under "media companies," which falls under "the media."

I've highlighted all "media companies" in the document in red; their
subsidiaries are listed below. At the bottom of the list, highlighted
in pink, are media outlets that I found weren't really affiliated with
any large media company or conglomerate. You can parent those media
outlets under the group name above it that is bolded and highlighted in
grey (for example, "the blogs").

If you're adding a news source that isn't listed on this document, just
parent it under the umbrella group "the media" if you don't have time
to look up which company it belongs to. I'll periodically check that
group and try to put any random media outlets in their appropriate
place.

If you see anything on this list that is wrong or needs to be put in a
different group, please change it. Also, feel free to reorganize things
if you can think of a better way. I was a unsure if there would be a
more useful way to organize the groups under "media outlets," so it
consists of lots of random groups right now. I highlighted the last two
groups in yellow because I don't think they should be listed as media
groups.

I think there are lots of media groups that are not currently grouped
under any parent media group, so if you come across an already-existing
media group that doesn't fall under "the media" umbrella group, please
fix it!

Hopefully this will help us keep media organizations listed on the site
searchable and connected to other groups they're affiliated with.

thanks,
Stephanie
