There is something to be said for the institution of hereditary power-transfer of the sort practiced by both monarchy and company, insomuch as that a son who inherits his station from his father can at least be trusted to possess half of the father's genes and perhaps most of his ideas as well. There is less to be said for the considerably less universal institution of handing out radio shows and newspaper columns to Ronald Reagan's adopted son, who can boast not a drop of the GOP Pharaoh's blood and does not seem to have picked up on any Great Communication skills in the course of a boyhood spent living under the roof of the Great Communicator. Nonetheless, here we are.

Reagan's latest piece is somewhat confusing insomuch as that it seems
to take for granted things that are demonstrably untrue, while at the
same time believes himself to be the only person in the country who
understands what is going on in the present day as well as what will
happen tomorrow, having perhaps picked up a taste for astrology from
his foster mother.
Quoth the Reagan - Huck' no more:
Although Mike Huckabee once suddenly leaped into
the lead in the Republican primary contests, he began to drop back just
as suddenly as the New Hampshire contest approached.
What
is meant by this? Reagan's piece was published yesterday. When did
Huckabee begin to "drop back" in the "Republican primary contests"?
Which contests? We are compelled to read on!
On the other hand, John McCain --once considered
all-but-finished -- has reportedly now surged ahead in New Hampshire
and is showing signs that he could go all the way to the nomination.
After
pausing to note that characterizing John McCain as "once considered
all-but-finished" is probably not the best way to contrast the
candidate with Huckabee, who himself was "once considered
all-but-finished," it should also be noted that, if Reagan has a point,
he appears to have refrained from making it. In what primary contests
has Huckabee begun "to drop back just as suddenly?" We keep seeing the
