Lev-

Below, a few questions for you to get the ball rolling; I might have a couple more based on your answers.

The band has been compared to both David Bowie and the Beach Boys; for those who can't imagine what such a combination might sound like, which of those groups do you think more closely approximates the sound and sensibilities of Tacks?

It's been noted that Tacks doesn't quite fit into the "indie rock" genre. Does it fit into anything?

Aside from being based in Austin, does Tacks strike you as a particularly "Austin-y" band (assuming you believe that any such thing exists)?

How did you get involved with Tacks?

Thanks,

Barrett Brown

Thanks for getting back to me. I'll call Jacobs tomorrow at that time, and I'll send along a few questions for you a bit later this afternoon.

Thanks again,

Barrett Brown

Thanks for the email.

We'd be happy to answer your questions. Please send me any "third party" questions by email.

As for band interview - I can get you a phoner with Evan Jacobs (singer/songwriter/keyboardist) tomorrow.

When are you available?

PS. I've attached a copy of the current Tacks, the Boy Disaster bio.

My name is Barrett Brown, and I've been asked by the editor of Austin Monthly to do a profile on Tacks, the Boy Disaster for the magazine's March issue, in which they'll be profiling about eight different up-and-coming Austin bands. Would you be available for a brief interview, either by e-mail, phone, or IM, sometime in the next two or three days? I'd also like to talk to a third party that's familiar with your band, such as a producer, promoter, or someone associated with a local venue at which you've played a few times, or perhaps your manager Lev Kuperman if he's available (I've CC'd him on this e-mail).

Please get back to me when you have a moment. The due date for this piece is the 10th of this month, so if you'd have time to do this pretty soon, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks,

Barrett Brown
