As I said in my previous email, the profiles should be between 4-500 words, and I definitely think you should have an outside source, in addition to the band. If there is a notable producer that has worked with them or a local club owner or even a noteworthy radio DJsomebody prevalent within the industrywho could give proof of why they're poised for success, I think it would add a lot of depth and credibility to the piece.

Hi Barrett:

How are you? First, I want to introduce myself. I am the assistant editor for Austin Monthly, and Melissa Delaney, the editor, gave me your contact information. We are working on our March issue and would love for you to contribute to one of our feature stories.

March is our annual music issue, and every year, we showcase a handful of bands that are hyped to do great things in the upcoming year. This year, we're working with "Eight to Watch in 08" and thought you'd be a great writer for it. The story includes eight profiles of bands, and we have already narrowed down our list. I wanted to see if you'd be interested in working on two of them? The profiles should be between 400-500 words. We want to know who are they? What's their sound like? What's their story? What's so exciting about them? Why are WE singling them out to watch in 2008?

Of course, you'll need to talk with the band, but I also think it'd be good to get at least one other outside sourceeither a radio DJ, club owner, producer, etc.to illustrate concrete proof of why they're big.

The deadline for both profiles is Jan. 10. Please let me know as soon as possible if this is something you'd like to work on, and if so, we can discuss in further detail. Thanks!
