Thank you for posting this diary on Dkos in an attempt to reign in the
emotional reactions to anything Ron Paul related.
Given the passion and tone of their reactions, one has to wonder if
the elected officials they supported, donated to and elected into
office are expected to represent their divisive, hateful views toward
persons who possess views different from their own.
For example, take all the commenters who advocate ostracism, harm,
prison and in one case even death to people who share some of Paul's
views. Do these people realize they are speaking on behalf of their
elected politicians (or even all Democrats) in the exact same way the
racists are speaking for Ron Paul? If we should archive all of their
hateful comments, then figure out which candidates they've donated to,
and publicize this in a lengthy blog tome, wouldn't it be appropriate
for the candidates to be forced to return their donations in order to
properly distance themselves from the views of their supporters? To
what extent would the candidates be expected to disavow the public
rantings of their supporters?
Again, thanks for trying to inject some moderation into the dialog at Dkos.
