Here are the child/member event and symphony event descriptions; let me know what they think. I've also attached them as a word file.

Memories on the Beach

Those idyllic childhood experiences of the sort that stay with one forever can be few and far between, but our annual member/child retreat never fails to be one of them.

The setting for this year's event is the celebrated WaterColor Inn, an exclusive, amenity-rich resort located amongst the wildlife of Santa Rosa Beach in northwest Florida. Though the inn itself is much revered for such nice touches as chilled, scented towels and an architectural style Southern Living once described as "an avant-garde interpretation of a Gulf Coast family beach home," YPO members and their children will no doubt find themselves focused on the staggering array of outdoor wonders for which the region has long been revered. A golf course designed by the acclaimed Tom Fazio awaits those who'd care to introduce their child to the links; guided kayaking tours through Western Lake and Grayton Beach allow easy access to bottlenosed dolphins, bobcats, and the Gulf's iconic shorebirds; a day camp for kids aged four to twelve provides ample opportunity for parents to meanwhile take advantage of the inn's expansive spa.

Sign up early; Memories on the Beach promises to fill up fast.

Music Program

Since its founding in 1913, the Houston Symphony Orchestra has managed to establish itself as one of the nation's most highly revered performing arts institutions, routinely charming audiences with presentations of everything from the lesser-known works of Tchaikovsky and Schubert to such more grin-inducing popular events as Gridiron Glory: The Sights and Sounds of the NFL. This year's music program event, though, will provide even the most frequent of HSO attendees with something they've yet to experience: a chance to take the stage. No need to be nervous, though; we'll simply be having dinner.

Our evening will begin with a performance by the HSO's award-winning ensemble, after which our attending YPO members will be brought on stage for a delightful gourmet meal in the company of Maestro Hans Graf, the celebrated music program director and a recipient of the Chevalier de l'Ordre de la Légion d'Honneur. By way of both the evening's conducting and the brief talk he'll be giving at dinner, Mr. Graf will provide his guests with a unique set of lessons on the nature of leadership and the manner in which it is universally applied, whether one be fronting today's orchestras or running tomorrow's companies.

You are so bad.... "nerd friends". I am sure that they do not consider themselves as such and remember they are YOUR friends... so maybe it one of those pot/kettle things =)

But seriously, I am not in a hurry. So no rush, if you can send them by tomorrow afternoon that would be great.

Cheers,
Lora

No problem. Sorry about the delay with these other couple of descrips, which I'd hoped to have in by now, but my laptop screwed up late last night and I had to wait for one of my nerd friends to come over today and reformat the damned thing.

Lora,

Here's a revised version of the event descriptions. The fellow on the other end who edited this had a couple of questions. Regarding Lindzen and the global warming talk, he does indeed disagree with the prevailing public view of global warming and considers cooling to be just as likely as warming over the next two decades, and I've rephrased it a bit to make that more clear, as the term "global warming" means several different things. As for the question regarding the activities at the zoo, I have no idea what they're going to be allowed to do with the animals, but I recall you mentioned that someone on their end wanted the descrip to begin, "Have you ever (blanked) with a (blank)?" and mention some hypothetical, moderately plausible activities. I've just taken it out for now, but if they'd still like me to do something along those lines and have it be accurate, I'll need contact info for whomever is in charge of that zoo program, or I'll need one of them to forward that info.

I'll get these other descriptions in to you a bit later this evening.

Thanks,

Barrett Brown

Lora:  attached are the write-ups with several comments from Shawn.  If you can't read them, call me, I tried to clarify them for you.  On the Bob Eubanks write-up, Shawn had me send to Kevin Robins for his input, so you'll either hear directly from him or me.

Is the plan still to have the website up and running before the Sept 6 event?  Also, Shawn was asking how you're coming on the other write-ups:  retreats, holiday party,  etc., etc.....

Thanks, Lora.
